Taehoon Im studied Political Economy and Development at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Harvard University-John F. Kennedy School of Government where he obtained Bachelor of Arts with Distinction and Master in Public Policy with Distinction respectively. During his undergraduate studies, he spent two and a half years in Bangladesh as a Korean Overseas Volunteer (KOV), in which he first turned his eyes to the bottom of the pyramid (BOP). Later, when he worked for Harvard University-Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation as a researcher and the World Bank as a consultant, he became involved in the research projects on foreign direct investment (FDI) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Vietnam. Now, his research interest lies in how consumers' low [childhood] socio-economic status (SES) affects their unique behaviors, particularly in emerging economies. He has received several prestigious awards from the Mayor of Seoul, Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh, Korean Ambassador to the United States and Speaker of the National Assembly. Especially in 2011, he won the Talent Medal of Korea bestowed by the President of the Republic of Korea.
