I grew up in a group home with no parents from ages 8 to 14. Group homes are public institutions that ran on your tax dollars. Most of my customers were senior citizens on social security. I eventually went on to college thanks to government-funded financial aid which supplement the overwhelming amount of scholarships I earned from foundations, grants, and international programs. I'm a healthy 31 year old, college-educated with no criminal background Black male that runs a high-growth technology startup in education with a focus on helping under-served teens discover their career path. I currently have two inner-city high school students as interns. I'm an American and so is my story that has been brought to you by public dollars.
