About

SUCCESS IS LIKE YOUR OWN SHADOW IF YOU TRY 2 CATCH IT U WILL NEVA SUCCEED...IGNORE IT AND WALK ON YA OWN IT FOLLOW U... THATS MY MODUL!!!! Harlem, New York is a city of innovators. It’s been that way for nearly a century, and the residents of New York City’s most famous neighborhood are proud of it. So it should come as no surprise that the future of Hip-Hop music proudly reps Harlem at every turn. 25-year-old Jason Formey was born and raised during the darker days of Harlem’s history, at a point when Reaganomics and drug culture took its toll on the city. The son of two parents who had to turn to the streets to provide for their family, he knew at an early age that the street life would not be his way out of hardship. Of course, as a child of the 80s, he fell in love with Hip-Hop. But for him it was deeper than entertainment; music was an outlet for him, a means of escaping the pressures to which many of his peers would fall victim. By the age of twelve, he had started to develop his persona as an artist. It started with impromptu concerts at school, where young Jason would even captivate the attention of teachers by reciting the most popular rhymes while still managing to make them his own with flair and personality. By thirteen, Severe was born when Jason brought together his favorite school subject – writing – with his favorite pastime – music. It wasn’t long before he captured the attention of his neighborhood’s next wave of Hip-Hop pioneers including Big L, Ma$e and Cam’ron. But it was a chance encounter with producer Ron Browz that would come to redefine Severe’s career. The two developed a relationship that was part mentor, part big brother, and always bigger than music. While Severe was honing his skills, learning the art of songwriting, Browz was establishing a name as one of New York’s most sought out producers. Never one to rest on his laurels, Severe took it upon himself to rally the city behind his movement, letting the music speak for itself.
