About

Volunteering brings a good feeling to your heart because you know you have spent time helping somone in a significant way. It doesn't have to be time consuming, either, unless there is a disaster for which you are needed! You don't have to have any medical backround to be involved- there are many ways you can help out! Volunteers are the very heart of the Ashland County-City Medical Reserve Corps (ACCMRC) Unit #1181. The Corps promotes healthy living through health education at different community events throughout the year, AND, during times of training and disaster, moves into action to assist the Ashland County-City Health Department, Ashland County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, Ashland Unit of the Cleveland Chapter of the American National Red Cross, Samaritan Regional Health System, Ashland Mental Health and Recovery Board, and Salvation Army of Ashland,Ohio. The Corps recognizes the larger vision that in the event of a wide scale public emergency, there simply would not be enough public health staff to meet needs. While many people are willing to help out in an emergency; it is difficult to verify and organize volunteers in the midst of an event. Pre-identifying volunteers, pre-training, and verifying credentials before an emergency provides a pool of available trained volunteers.
