About

Born in Erie, PA, William Weyes (pronounced "wise") started writing poetry as a child and started rapping in the 7th grade. He recorded music in his bedroom with old equipment given to him by his brother who was a professional DJ at a local night club. Still based out of Erie, he travels back and forth to Pittsburgh to record at ID Labs where he has formed a great relationship with Big Jerm. Having struggled with depression and anxiety since he was young, Willy uses these battles as inspiration for a lot of the music that he writes today. Although he is a big fan of trap music, Willy considers his style to be more intellectual. Because he's never sold or done drugs, his goal is to remain true to himself and combine that trap/commercial sound with conscious lyrics. In late 2013, he released and shot a video for "Genius," which was well-received by the public. His most recent project, an album entitled "Higher Thinking," has nothing to do with drugs or getting high. Instead, this project offers a message that portrays Willy's journey to figure out who he is and think for himself, as well as what it means to be a leader and not a follower. The album features a track called "Hustle," which features Hardo and was produced by Big Jerm. Willy also plans to release a video for the main single, "Escape," from the same album. Other artists that he has worked with include Devin Miles, Choo Jackson, and the Ying Yang Twins. You can find his music online at https://soundcloud.com/williamweyes and on YouTube.
