About

I started performing as a percussionist in the jr. high orchestra. Kept drumming in the forefront of my music, while also picking up guitar and other instruments. In 1997, I joined a vocal/theater group that traveled all around the NE region of the US, and lower Ontario. First time performing at a Renaissance Faire was with this group. Originally performing as a member of nobility, after moving to Missouri, I began to walk my own path... as a pirate. Pulling from my true family history, which is filled with nautical endeavors. Thus, created the character, James Roberts. For nearly 10 years, James Roberts, captain of the Dragonfly wandered through various renaissance festivals and events, even strolling the boardwalk area of Branson Missouri, thus becoming known as "The Branson Pirate". In 2007, I was introduced to contact juggling. I had done other types of skill toys, and thought them fun, but nothing captivated me as this did. I began dedicating several hours a day, learning everything I could about this beautiful art. As contact juggling took a more dominant role in my performance and character, the nickname "Cannonball" was added, and thus, Cannonball James.
