About

My name is Derek Appiah-Kumi, I'm Computer Science Major with a very Analytical Mind. On the Myers Briggs Personality Test I am an INTJ type. Meaning I'm a very passionate when it comes to my intelligence and Ideas. My view on the World is generally formed by my observations of what is around. The only way I change my preconceived assumptions on those around me is through detailed questioning and Information gathering. I'm selective of who I allow into my Inner Circle of friends. That is because I'm very protective of those things and people I cherish. I'm very curious and I have keen desire to be a jack-of-all trades of sorts. I aspire for greatness in all the fields I find interest in and I try to inspire those around me to greatness in what they do. When It comes to relationships I value Intellect and Mastery. I find those are not able to reach at my intellectual level as uninteresting at first but I can be swayed by those with excellent talents and skills that I see great potential in. This is when I would inspire those to their full potential. The reason for this is because I have a great appreciation for the Arts and the Sciences. In teams I find that I fit well as the Planner/Manager or the Motivator. My style of inspiration does not rely on out putting high amounts of energy out in my presentation with little or no substance behind it. I prefer to inspire people with stories of logic and reasoning. Why, Because I feel people work better when they are fully informed of why they are doing what they are doing. A personal mantra of mine is “Knowledge is Power” this may seem cheesy to most but for some one like me who prides himself on his knowledge and intellect this is to me a Nobel truth. Back in area of relationships I tend to rely on assumptions which I've learned are not so accurate because we live in a world where “you can't judge a book my its cover”. That's why I enjoy talking to people about meaningful topics because it allows me better to gauge pieces of their true personality under the facade most of them put on. I find that people will let pieces of their true self come out when they are faced with matters of personal importance. Another technique I use that I borrowed from a close extrovert friend of mine is perspective shifting. When dealing with people I find interest in or even those I have mild acquaintances with I try to use the information given to me to see the world or situation in their perspective and try to sympathize with that person. What ever insights I gain from such a tactic I always hold true to my assumptions in the case that my assumptions are right, but if not that's when I have no problem changing my approach or decision with this person. When I work I'm very self driven and will focus on a task with full dedication. If faced with a problem in my work I will collect the necessary information needed and weight out the best possible options based on variety of factors that are present in the situation. This Systematic approach is only a framework for how I approach my work. Specific procedures I partake in to find a solution are situation based and allow for a lot of flexibility on my part. That is me pretty much in a nut shell.

Favorite saying

  • "“Knowledge Is Power” by Alchemist Francis Bacon “In our age there is no such thing as 'keeping out of politics' All issues are political issues and politics itself is A mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.” By Writer George Orwell "That's right, I'm crazy. But the entire world is crazy. People just don't want to admit it. Take a look at our world. Genocides, science out of control, corruption as a way of life. God has forsaken us. Humanity ignores the Ten Commandments, and continues to commit mortal sin after mortal sin. Ruled by a bunch of hypocrites, this world is filled with sin. And in a world like this, we're the only ones who fit in perfectly. This world needs people like me.""
