About

The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds,That's what I hope to give to you forever. Check out this little story- Born on Saturday, Aug 13th, 1960 at Stormont-Vail, 8:18pm 3lbs 11oz. premature, real name was Kevin Alan Miller. Never remembered my real mother whose name was Irene Miller (Mar 9th 1930)(Born in St Joseph, Louisiana) and she hooked up with my real dad Earl Curtis West-Brunt-Broadnax,(born Feb 14th 1938),they never married. MY ONLY son Kevin JR (Mar 16th, 1989) looks just like him. Mrs West-Broadnax (Sept 4, 1919)(Coweta, Okl.) but I grew up thinking Curtis was my oldest brother. I know its wild but keep reading. Curtis was actually Mrs Broadnax son she had before she married Mr Broadnax. Curtis real dad was Earl Brunt from Chicago. When Mr and Mrs Broadnax got married in 1942 they adopted Curtis and they had four other children, Elsbery Junior(1942), Ronnie(1945), Delores(1949), Marva(1950). Curtis and Irene hooked up and had little ole' me. I stayed with my Aunt Vandora and then Mckinley Burnette(famous for Brown vs the Board of Education) who ran a Boarding Home for the state of Kansas with his wife Lena. Knowing Curtis could not take care of me because he was 22. Mr / Mrs Broadnax adopted me in Sept 1965, lived with them since 1964, and changed my name to Kevin Allen Broadnax and raised me like I was their own or better. Irene had TB and I heard she died in 2008 and buried in the St Louis VA. Curtis died in 1980- (My real dad.) He was a Deputy Sheriff and lived with Betty Guerrero (RIP-1995) for 15 years or more. My Father and Mother will always be Mr /Mrs Broadnax (really my Grandmother and Grandfather) who I love dearly, because they didn't have to do what they did for me or my real dad. Mrs Broadnax left this world in 1993. She is buried at the corner of California and 10th Street right by a tree you can see from the street and I think of her every time I go down that street when I am home. Mr Broadnax (May 21, 1919)(original Buffalo Solider with the 9th Cav at Ft. Riley)(WW2 veteran) passed away in 2012 in Topeka, retired from Goodyear with his new wife Freda. He was 93 at the time of his passing. The Broadnax lived at 1169 Lane St next to the Canady's until I was six and we moved to 937 Jewell St in 1966, right down from the Counts, until Mrs Broadnax death in 1993. Went to church at Lane Street Church of God and also Faith Temple Church of God in Christ on Lincoln St. After all that, I attended Lowman Hill Elementary School and Boswell Jr High and Topeka High, did the normal thing, playing sports and the saxophone. Loved going roller skating at Starlite at 45th especially on Soul night. Remember the riot at Topeka High in 76 and how it spilled over to the Fair, my friend Jason Donnelly got bit by a police dog, which we always snuck into. "Roots did it, I think". Remember my white 1965 Rambler station wagon I used to drive that you had to put power steering fluid in it every day. Remember my so called fro that the wind would blow every which way but thank God for holding spray. I also love raising tropical fish which my mother got me into. Then in 1979 it was off to the US Air Force for 26 years.
