About

I was not made from a mold and am a maverick thinker in every circle I move in. This often creates angst for those who think I need fixing. I am a musician and a retired professor from SUNY Broome Community College teaching Sound Engineering in a Pro Tools environment and the use of digital audio workstations, notation software, and other ways musicians use computers. I was formerly involved in Christian ministry as a pastor and as a worship leader. For fun I edit Wikipedia articles. As I retire, I am beginning to play around with Video editing, Blender 3D, and other video software.

Favorite saying

  • ""Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it." ~ Andre Gide "One's first step in wisdom is to question everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything." ~ Georg C. Lichtenberg "The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt." ~ Bertrand Russell "The trouble with most folks isn’t so much their ignorance, as knowing so many things that ain’t so." ~ Josh Billings "I consider Western Christianity in its practical working a negation of Christ’s Christianity." ~ Mahatma Gandhi "He who begins by loving Christianity better than Truth will proceed by loving his own sect of church better than Christianity, and end by loving himself better than all." ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge "The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object." ~ Thomas Jefferson "The conventional view serves to protect us from the painful job of thinking." ~ John Kenneth Galbraith "I do not believe the proper definition of God's grace is 'unmerited favor.' That definition trashes our self-worth. I believe God's grace is His joyful kindness in overlooking serious shortcomings in order to focus instead on the loveliness that still remains in us." ~ Bob Greaves "The shallow are angered by realistic solutions. They wholeheartedly reject them because embracing such ideas requires more depth than they possess. Those who cannot fully appreciate the strength and weakness of a fully liberal and a fully conservative point of view have no choice but to be livid. Their anger is a gauge of their shallowness. Their view is condemned to the extreme. Do not be fooled by their blindness." ~ Bob Greaves "Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the danger of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of crackpot than the stigma of conformity." ~ Thomas J. Watson, Sr. "For those who care, and I understand if you don't: Today I quit being a Christian. I'm out. I remain committed to Christ as always but not to being "Christian" or to being part of Christianity. It's simply impossible for me to "belong" to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I've tried. I've failed. I'm an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else." ~ Anne Rice Selected Quotes from Albert Einstein “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” ~ AE “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” ~ AE "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." ~ AE "Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods." ~ AE"
