About

First thing first , whoever reads this may not know i've been in a wheelchair for the past year due to a spinal cord injury. I may walk again if my nerves regenerate in time but meanwhile i'm still alive and feelng great.I started as a booking agent after converting Larry's Hideaway from a strippers haven to a rock bar.Booking Agent,Music shoppe Intl.&The Agency.Representing Rush,Bryan Adams,Burton Cummings,Teenage Head,Kings,Saga,Triumph, and every act that needed to tour.It was an exciting time in Canada to be in "THE BIZ".This is the 70s & 80S, and Canadian bands were starting to be taken seriously as a result of Rush. One good example of that time was a band called "Moxy" featuring Buzz Sherman on lead vocals , can any Zoomers remember that far back? TO was spoiled back then if you went clubbing, nights where you could go out and see Carole Pope w/ Rough Trade @ the Chimney,K.D. Laing at the Brunswick House,Triumph@ the Piccadilly Tube, or A Foot in Cold Water at the Knobbie. No folks, Justin Bieber wasn't a head-liner yet or even a glint in dad's eyes. This city has a lot to be proud of in a musical sense and back then we could see them for the price of a drink, touring bands had to make an impression in TO or simply Go Home! Cover charges were to off-set expenses, not to go in the operator's pocket,They would pay 1500-2000 f a bands 3 night engagement and then recover 2500 in cover charges. Yes it was a good time to be an operator until they met that booking duo known as Al and Ralph and then the game changed to our bands benefit. NOW we got you all by the balls so pay up or spin reecords. It was to become the hottest club market in all of North America, bands were travelling from L.A. to play Toronto and Southern Ontario and let's not forget Great Britain.Another chick i had the pleasure of booking was K.D.Laing,remember her? I love this city called Toronto my home.So much to do,people to meet, places to eat at any hour as i'm sure most know.,,,,AL
