Quit St. Dom's High School freshman year. Worked with my dad for awhile then worked at the Bates Mill Hill Division. Found out I would be drafted in the Armed Forces. Elected to join and chose my path. Went to Ft.Dix, NJ in December 1965. Then to Ft. Rucker in 1966, trained in Fire Fighter Crash and Rescue. Spent 18 months in VietNam. Managed to survive it except for a few close calls. Got my High School GED while there. Finished my 3 year stint in the US Army at the Yakima Fireing Center in the state of Washington. Went back to the Hill Division after my 3 year stint in the Army. Left with the rank of Specialist E-4. Decided not to re-inliist because was told I would go back to VietNam. No thanks. Applied with the Lewiston Fire Department in 1970. Began my career there in march 1970. Started as a grunt private until 1985. Went to SMVTI for my college degree in Fire Technology, graduated in 1977 with honors. I got promoted to Lieutenant in 1985. Then got promoted to Captain in 1989, followed by Deputy Fire Chief in November 1989.
