About

I was born in Lansing, Mi, the youngest of 4 children born of Larry and Mary Donovan. I attended Resssurection School and Lansing Catholic Central High School, graduating in 1972. I enlisted in the U.S Army in 1974, and served 2 years, stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo, and Ft. Hood, Tx. I spent several long cold winter months in Germany with Operation Reforger, and attended Truckmaster Training in Ft. Eustis, Va. I recieved an Honorable Discharge in 1976. In 1974, I married Jayne Marie Lynch, and she joined me in Ft. Hood, Tx. After leaving the Army in 1976, we breifly lived in Houston, Tx, and decided it was time to return to Home and Family in Michigan. While working at Heatherwood Farms Dairy, where my Dad was a Milkman when I was a kid, I had the chance to ride along on some Trucking Trips and got some on the job training in a semi-truck. In 1977 I became an Owner-Operator with North American Van Lines, and began my career as an Interstate Driver, with Jayne along for the ride. She didn't like driving truck, but helped with all other aspects of the business, endless paperwork, bookkeeping, and also helping with the physical loading and unloading of freight. We saw our great country together for 7 years and grew up together on our travels. In the 1980's we decided we wanted a more normal lifestyle, and I began working in the Detroit area driving Gravel Trains, Short Doubles, and moving on to Heavy Equipment hauling with Lowboys and other fun and exhilerating equipment combinations. It brought an added callenge to my Trucking Career! I then advanced on to more exotic hauls and equipment challenges working out of Grand Rapids, while Jayne became "Suzy Homemaker" running our household in Lansing, taking care a of her much loved neices and nephews, and then giving childcare to Grandneices before and after school. She has been able to explore her love of gardening, which has grown into an obsession! Hence, the "Mad Garden Skills"!!! I have been an Owner-Operator for the last 6 years, and as the Industry has changed, I have made an effort to evolve my business to continue to be effective and provide professional service to our Country. I have ventured into Over Dimensional Loads, in Over Length, Over Width, Over Weight, and Over the Top!! Hope you enjoy photo's of some of my adventures!
