I retired on 1 May 2009 after a 30 year career as an intelligence analyst working Soviet and Eurasian military and proliferation issues. I worked primarilly on Moscow's nuclear force planning and security, which explains my fondness for knives and swords. I spend a substantial amount of time researching historical military issues and events. Right now I researching the military strategy, tactics, and equipment of the Byzantine empire. This will dove tail with my interest in collecting swords because I would like to commission a blacksmith to make a copy of the sword typically used by Byzantine cataphracts. I am a big New England Patriots fan. I have been following the Pats since I was a freshman in HS in 1968. I am also a big Celtic, Bruin, Red Sox fan, but I grew up in a football household.
