Hello, my name is Robert Younger. I graduated from Westview High School in Avondale, Arizona in May of 1997. I went to East Valley Institute of Technology (E.V.I.T) in Mesa, Arizona in 1998 – 1999. I studied computer repair. In 1997, I was accepted to University of Arizona for Computer Science. But I didn’t pursue it at that time. I wasn’t ready mentally for college. Some of the things that I like about school are. I like learning new things. Even in working at El Mirage Elementary now. I am even learning new things about science and the state of Arizona. Some of the information I have learned thru the years. But I may have forgotten. But it still is interesting. I love the use of technology in learning. Like the use of smart boards. Smart boards are a very useful tool! Things that I have found challenging. I find anything with school to be challenging. Since I have a learning disability, I have to study harder. But it doesn’t defeat me. But this is a reason I like Special Education. I currently work for Dysart Unified School District #89, At El Mirage Elementary. I am an Instructional Assistant in a self-Contained Classroom. I am working with Kindergarten thru 4th Grade. Before working at El Mirage, I worked at a day program for developmentally challenged Adults. I like that in working with the kids. You get to see them accomplish goals. Things like writing there name, Counting to 10, Or even helping them to learn how to swing on the swings. The kind of job that I’d like to do would be to work in a special Education Classroom. If I wasn’t to get into a special education classroom, I’d like to work with first thru fourth grade. I’d prefer fourth grade out of all the grades. For I currently have the most experience with them. I love to play video games. Like Battlefield 3®, Star Trek Online®, Star Wars The Old Republic®. Also do like to Fish & Camp. I love to hunt Elk when and if I get drawn. I am a huge Trekkie. I love to watch the movies over and Over. I also like to read the books. I do have several that I have that I have read. And many more that I haven’t yet to read. I was born in Indiana. And I have several family members that do live there. So I travel back there every couple of years. Also I travel to Albany, Missouri for a family reunion. It is interesting to go back there every year or two. I currently live with my mother. My dad passed away in October of 2012. I have 2 older brothers. 1 lives in Chandler, Arizona who has 3 kids of his own. Other lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, who has 3 kids. My sister-in-Law in Indiana is a Teacher for a School District in Indianapolis. The reason I am obtaining this degree is so that I can improve myself. And I want to help kids to reach their full potential. Every kid can learn. Just need to find the way that works for them. The Knowledge I get from this program, will help me to help the kids that I work with. Therefore, they will know that they can learn, and they can be someone. I now want to become a teacher even stronger now. My grandmother passed away September 4, 2013. She was all about education and the kids. Therefore, I want to continue her legacy of helping kids.
