Diana has moved far beyond her corporate days, and over the last few years has developed a keen interest in folk history and more specifically in Harriet Tubman. Diana hails originally from Dorchester County and in that regard has been engaged in the initiative at the local, state and national level to bring recognition and celebration to Harriet Tubman’s role in the underground railway. Diana’s interest in history, together with a personal creative talent in poetry, has evolved into development of a ‘lecture’ (I use the term ‘lecture’ cautiously) that Diana has presented to high school and college classes that uses historical context, curiosity and color to help students explore their own relationships to who they are. Diana’s presentations have received high praise from students and teachers... and it’s far too complex in execution... As it happens, Diana read me a note from one of the students she spoke to in a creative writing class and I think that note, ... provides the kind of bona fides that I want to convey. "
