My Life
It is how it is, nothing more can be said
You live life as best you can then suddenly you are dead
Day after day you struggle, wondering what its all for
When the day’s light is over, will you wake again no more
To find that today is like yesterday, but still you try
To find a means to the end, prolonging the last cry
When herds of feet stand beside you at the coffins side
Uttering words of encouragement to you as you lie
Still and stiff in amazement as you look from above
Finding out truths unmentioned from those you did love
Now your bodies covered in dirt as your soul drifts toward the sky
They are calling out the role, here’s your chance to holler “I”
As you stand at the gate you listen as someone is asking you
Were you an honest person in everything you had to do
And I reply with an assurance, as with every thing that did I
It was my life from the beginning to the day that I did die
So ask of me something that I can’t possibly know
And allow me to resume “My Life” because I need more time to grow
