About

Background info in FB reflects mostly my musical background and experience. Work stuff is on LinkedIn… Michael is a member of the DC based group The Jazz Infuzion (www.jazzinfuzion.com). See his bio for additional info. He grew up in McLean, Virginia and introduced to music around age six. Mrs. Brice was my first piano teacher and Dave Arnold on guitar at the old McLean Arts building. Started playing jazz guitar in eighth grade. Very blessed to have studied jazz under George Horan’s Jazz Lab at Langley High School for four years. Private lessons with Bill Banks and Rick Whitehead. College at Virginia Tech…other than all those geology courses…took a few music theory and piano classes. Played a piano lounge gig at the Marriott and local clubs with the band Whatever – John Heubusch, John Grubbs, Bill Paris, Kyle Byrd and a few others. Daddy’s Money was our best gig! DC music scene with Top Flight doing mostly standards, dance and Motown…BRA handled bookings. Most of my recent musical experience has focused on contemporary Christian music through local churches including McLean Presbyterian and Floris United Methodist church. I’ve been involved in recording projects with JC Reigns, Higher Ground and other local bands. My personal musical emphasis is back to the basics of jazz, standards, and acoustic guitar with a little mandolin for fun. My musical walk has been influenced by many – Scott Martin, Peter Princiotto and so many from Langley…others…Chic Correa, Stevie Wonder, Happy the Man, Return to Forever, McCoy Tyner, Gregg Karukas, Tim Eyerman, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Joni Mitchell, Andy McKee, Neil Larsen, Seldom Scene, Yes and Psalms 33:3.
