About

I Married my first husband in 1967, split 3 years later. I went back to college at Roosevelt University and finished my degree and taught in Chicago public schools in the early 70's. I landed in a school for the deaf as an ART teacher and got very interested in Special Education, so left Chicago to go to graduate school at the University of Oregon where I met my current husband. We were married in 1975, and just celebrated our 37th anniversary. I was a teacher at a Special Education center, and eventually became director of the Adult program for the Developmentally Disabled. We had our first daughter in 1979 who was a sister to my husband's daughter, my stepdaughter who was part of our family from the time she was 5. In 1981 we moved back to the Chicago area where I taught courses in the field of Special Education for the College of Dupage and the National College of Education. In 1989 we moved to the Dallas area in order for my husband to pursue advancements in his career as a Software Engineer. I had planned to continue my teaching career, but discovered upon arriving that as the age of 44 I was pregnant! It was a difficult pregnancy and our daughter was born with a heart defect that later required surgery. We also eventually learned she had a number of mild handicaps that resulted in making school an unpleasant experience for her. I decided that I could do a better job, and homeschooled her from 4th grade through high school. Our three daughters all live in the Dallas area, the oldest is 41, a stay at home mom, and has blessed us with 3 beautiful granddaughters, the next is 32, has her B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Texas and works for a major company in the area and and the yougest has just turned 22, earned her B.A. in Psychology as well as her teaching certificate in Middle School Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has been working as a substitute teacher and continues to look for a full time position in her field. I discovered facebook a couple years ago as well as some of the games they sponsor and have been having great fun playing games and looking up old friends.
