PLEASE NOTE THAT JUSTICE NAHMIAS ACCEPTS "FRIEND" REQUESTS FROM ALMOST ALL INDIVIDUALS, AND DOING SO DOES NOT REFLECT ANY PERSONAL OR PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION. Justice David Nahmias is a proud American with a core belief in the rule of law and the rights protected by our Constitution. Born and raised in DeKalb County, the son of immigrants and a graduate of our public schools, David Nahmias was named Georgia's STAR high school student in 1982. He went on to graduate second in his class from Duke University and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served on the Law Review. After clerking for a U.S. Court of Appeals Judge and a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Nahmias practiced civil and criminal law at a prominent national law firm before beginning an impressive career as a federal prosecutor for almost 15 years. In Washington, D.C., Nahmias served as a senior Justice Department official overseeing terrorism investigations and prosecutions after the 9-11 attacks. In Georgia, Nahmias handled violent crime, fraud and public corruption cases in court as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and later as the U.S. Attorney for North Georgia, representing the United States in all criminal and civil cases in the district. His office successfully prosecuted hundreds of criminals, including Olympic Park bomber Eric Robert Rudolph, former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell, and the Atlanta police officers involved in the shooting death of 92-year old Kathryn Johnston. David Nahmias and his wife of 18 years live in Dunwoody and are the proud parents of two sons. They are members of Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church. In August 2009, Governor Sonny Perdue appointed David Nahmias to the Georgia Supreme Court to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Chief Justice Leah Sears. He won a statewide election to a full 6-year term as Justice in November 2010. Justice Nahmias already has written more than 100 judicial opinions on a wide variety of legal issues and has participated in more than 3000 decisions at the Supreme Court. On and off the bench, David Nahmias has earned the trust and support of Georgians from all walks of life and all corners of the state. Attorneys from every segment of the legal community and leaders from across the political spectrum respect and support Justice Nahmias based on his expertise, temperament, and integrity.
