I was born at Herrick Hospital in Berkeley, California, and grew up in the East Bay town of Pinole. I attended Francis Ellerhorst and Elizabeth Stewart Elementary schools, Pinole Junior High, Pinole Valley High (Class of 74), and Contra Costa Community College prior to embarking on a 23-year adventure in the United States Navy. I entered the Navy as an E-1 (Seaman Recruit) and retired as an E-8 (Senior Chief Petty Officer). I served at a variety of duty stations including: San Diego, CA - Recruit Training Center (Bootcamp), Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, USS Juneau (LPD-10), USS Tripoli (LPH-10), Naval Dental Center, Naval Dental Technician School (A and C schools) Yokosuka Japan - USS Midway (CV-41) and USS Independence (CV-62) Newport, RI - Senior Enlisted Academy (Honor Graduate) Bremerton, WA - Command Senior Chief, Naval Dental Center Northwest My Navy career took me to 4 continents and 27 countries, city-states, and islands. I lived in Japan for 7 years and gained so many great memories that I could write a book. I retired from the Navy in March, 1998, and settled in Bremerton, WA I have two dogs (both females), Company Little and Wendy Wiggles. Company is a Shepherd/Setter mix and Wendy is a Rottweiller/Great Dane mix. I hold a BA in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University; a Direct Transfer Associates and a Certificate of Proficiency in Environmental Studies from Olympic College (Bremerton); a BA in Planning & Environmental Policy and a Certificate in Emergency Management from Western Washington University (Bellingham). Presently unemployed.
