Military Service I joined the United States Marine Corps on 23 February 1972, completing Boot Camp at San Diego, California, where I was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. Upon Graduation from the Basic Military Police Course at Fort Gordon, Georgia I was stationed at Camp LeJuene, North Carolina with Headquarters and Service Battalion, Military Police and Guard Company, Marine Corps Base.I served as a Vehicle Registration Clerk, Revocation NCO and as a Traffic Accident Investigator/Traffic Law Enforcement Officer, from August 1972 until March 1975. Then as a Sergeant I served as the Patrol Supervisor, 2nd Platoon, from april 1975 to 22 April 1976 when I ended Active Service Duty. I joined the United States Army on 18 June 1976 and was assigned to the third Platoon, First Military Police Company, First Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Where I served as Squad Leader. Upon completing the Chemical, Biological and Radiological course, where I was the Distinguished Honor Graduate I was then assigned duties as Squad Leader/CBR NCO I participated in REFORGER 77 in the Federal Republic of Germany. While serving as the CBR NCO I was commended twice for the company being rated best trained in CBR during the Inspector Generals Inspection in both 1977 and 1978. I was reassigned to the 554th Military Police Company, Stuttgart/Vaighen, Federal Republic of Germany (EUCOM Headquarters) from December 1979 to March 1982, where I was promoted to Staff Sergeant and served as Squad Leader, Desk Sergeant and as Operations Sergeant for the Military Police Station. While serving as Operations Sergeant during the VII Corps Military Police Station Operations Inspection, the Military Police Station recieved an outstanding rating with only one minor discrepancy. I was selected for, and atteneded the Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course at Fort McCellan, Alabama from May to August 1982. I was then Staioned at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin with Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, Law Enforcemant Agency where I was promoted to Sergeant First Class and Served as the Patrol Division Supervisor, Physical Security NCO and as the Chief Game Warden, until February 1984. I then returned to the Federal Republic of Germany and was stationed with the third Platoon, 194th Military Police Company, 385th Military Police Battalion, Neu Ulm, from April 1984 to February 1986. Where I served as the Platoon Sergeant. While serving with the 194th Militayy Police Company I participated in REFORGER 86 exercise. I was granted an Inter-Theater transfer and stationed with the 5th Platoon, 501st Military Police Company, First Armored Division, Ansbach, where I served as the Platoon Sergeant, from February 1986 to February 1987. During my tenure I led my platoon through the Platoon Confidence Course at Bad Tolz, traing exercise Crested Eagle/Carbon Edge for which I received an Impact Army Commendation Metal, and during an External Army Training Evaluation excercise my platoon received the highest rating in the company. My 1st Squad participated and won the company level Squad Competition, which consisted of a night navigation course, MP Battle Drills, Volley Ball (while in MOPP-4), and a 20K road march with a 35 pound ruck. I was stationed back in the United States and served as the Physical Security NCO (Full-Time Active Support of the Army Reserves) with the 300th Military Police Enemy Prisoner of War Command, Inkster, Michigan from April 1987 to June 1990. While with this unit I was responsible for the physical security of the Headquarters and 28 subordinate units scattered throughout Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio and Minnesota. During my tenure the physical security pass rate rose from 46% to over 98% for the command. I then served a short, unaccompanied hardship tour with the Military Police Company, United States Army Chemical Activity, Pacific (USACAP), Johnston Island, from May 1990 to June 1991, where I served as Platoon Sergeant, 3rd Platoon. During my tenure my 2nd Squad leader SSG Evans was selected as NCO of the year and another member of 2nd Squad PFC Champagne was selected as Soldier of the year for USACAP. Upon completing my short tour I was stationed and assigned to my last assignment as the Operations Sergeant, 984th Military Police company, 759th Military Police Battalion, Fourth Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, I was deployed with the company to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and participated in Operation Safe harbor. My awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Accomendation Medal (5 OLC), Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Army Good Conduct Metal (5th Award), National Defense Metal (2nd Award) NCO Professional Development Medal (3rd Divice), Army Service Medal, and the Army Overseas Service Medal (3rd Award)
